LEED Rating: LEED for Homes and LEED for Neighborhood Development Hunzinger Construction Company served as the Construction Manager for Westlawn Gardens 33 acre new development project off of Silver Spring Drive in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Westlawn Gardens has received numerous local and national awards including the Mayor's Design Award, Wisconsin Commercial Real Estate Women Judges' Choice Impact, The Business Journal's Best Residential Renovation and The Daily Reporter's Top Projects award. The Silver Spring Neighborhood Center serves as the cornerstone of the neighborhood with its diverse range of educational, health, and sports programming for youth and families. Westlawn includes 94 one-bedroom units in two mid-rise multi-family buildings and 156 family units that range from two to five bedrooms. Sustainable Achievements: Westlawn Gardens has achieved LEED for Neighborhood Development Silver Certification for their 33 acre new development project in Milwaukee. This achievement places Westlawn Gardens in an elite group of LEED certified developments pioneering the way for a more sustainable future. With this certification, Westlawn Gardens is only the 2nd LEED-ND Stage III certified project in the world. Westlawn Gardens is also the highest rated LEED-ND Stage III certified project at the Silver level. Sustainable features include: New 30,000 square foot community gardens/sustainable food production, geothermal heated apartment buildings, bioswale rain gardens, weather resistant low maintenance exterior finishes, and high rated insulation.
