The Gardens on El Paseo is a high end, two-level, open air shopping gallery constructed on more than 10 acres located on El Paseo Drive. It showcases a 40,000 s.f. Saks Fifth Avenue department store; 117,000 s.f. of specialty retail shops; 50,000 s.f. of upscale restaurants; and a 1,000 vehicle, two-story parking garage. The large-scale plaza is the centerpiece of Palm Desert's regional business and shopping district. The Gardens on El Paseo is constructed of structural steel with metal decks and indigenous materials of plaster, stone, wood and tile. It consists of seven buildings connected by exterior walkways and natural, desert garden landscaping including six different varieties of palm trees, as well as a large variety of succulent and native plants. Additional features include five bridges, 16-foot trellis structures and eight water fountains.
