Irvine , CA
The international atmosphere created in Phases I and II continues throughout Phases III and IV, with architectural elements that create a Moorish village theme comprised of cobblestone walkways, Andalusian districts and plazas. The most notable elements of the project are the 105-foot giant wheel, the 38-foot carousel and the various cascading fountains. By night, the ten-story giant wheel comes to life with more than 15,000 lights. This beacon can be seen from both the Interstate 5 and 405 freeways, attracting crowds to the festivities. Phases III and IV of the Irvine Spectrum Center added more than 220,000 s.f. of retail and dining venues to the existing site bringing the total square footage to nearly 600,000 s.f. Snyder Langston also constructed 1.2 million square feet of additional parking, which included the placement of all underground utilities for future buildings.
