Palmhurst, TX
The city of Palmhurst in the Rio Grande Valley of south Texas received an H-E-B grocery store in Satterfield & Pontikes Construction’s first project for the large supermarket chain. At 97,000 square feet, the Palmhurst store is larger than most H-E-B stores. Construction was completed in only seven months.
The building is constructed with a structural steel framing system and thermoplastic single-ply membrane roofing with 86 skylights and two solar tubes. Exterior fi nishes include brick, cast stone, metal wall panels, concrete masonry unit, and exterior insulation and fi nish system (synthetic stucco), as well as curtainwall storefront system. Interior fi nishes feature ceramic tile, drywall, resilient flooring and polyurethane flooring.
Store features include:
• Party center and bakery
• Drive-thru pharmacy
• “Texas Front Porch” garden center
In addition, S&P constructed a fuel station and brushless automatic car wash on
the project site.
Project work included earthwork, erosion control, paving, landscaping and
irrigation. Safety systems include fi re suppression and alarm, security system, and
closed-circuit television.
