The Texas A&M University System awarded Satterfield & Pontikes Construction a contract to build the new Sam Rayburn Student Center at Texas A&M’s Commerce campus. The student population at the campus has increased substantially over the past decade, and the previous center was unable to meet the needs of a larger student body.
Scope of work included:
• New kitchen and dining facilities, bookstore, presentation/theater room with stage, offices for student activities and clubs, and administrative offices
• Larger spaces for meetings, with several conference rooms and a ballroom
• A large multi-story atrium that surrounds the new main entrance and contains Level 5 fi nishes, including millwork
• Excavation and replacement of expansive soils, concrete foundation piers, structural concrete beams, concrete slabs
• Structural steel columns and joists, metal stud framing, waterproofing, Vistawall curtain wall system, exterior aluminum louver system, modified bitumen roofing
• Brick masonry, calcium silicate stonework and aluminum panel exterior wall systems
• Terrazzo and sealed concrete fl ooring, operable partitions, wood panel finishes
• Elevators, audio/visual sound and lighting system, storm drainage, site improvements, landscaping, irrigation
