The Discovery Learning Center is a four-story, 50,000 square foot sophisticated lab and classroom facility consisting of a conventional spread footing and high-stem wall foundation system. The structural system for the building is a concrete frame and panned deck. The exterior features a cast concrete board finish, Red Lyon Sandstone, and Spanish tile roofing. To house the various teaching tools required by the University of Colorado, the interior features access flooring, lab casework and equipment, acid-waste piping, fume hoods, clean rooms, stainless steel acoustical paneling, video and communications systems, phase change glazing, and terrazo flooring.
