Milwaukee, WI
Major interior demolition and alterations for new Biomolecular Engineering Labs and classrooms for the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) were recently completed at the urban campus’s flagship building, located in downtown Milwaukee. The new Biomolecular labs included (4) new state of the art laboratory work environments, stock and material prep room, (7) private offices, renovation of existing restrooms, and new mechanical and electrical rooms. The project required the installation of a dedicated air handling unit loaded through the exterior wall of the building. The facility previously served as a bottling building for the former Blatz brewery. The new lab exhaust system fan serves several fume hoods, clean benches, and bio-safety cabinets throughout the lab space, with ductwork constructed from polyvinyl chloride-coated steel. Lab casework and experiment areas included lab air and vacuum systems with natural gas and reverse osmosis water supplies.
