The Dallas Independent School District selected Satterfield & Pontikes Construction to lead the constructing of the Hector P. Garcia Middle School. The three-story school accommodates more than 1,200 students and was designed to meet the educational and environmental needs of today and tomorrow. The school earned DISD designation as a “green” building and is the largest school in Texas to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) certifi cation.
Scope of work on this project included:
• Twenty-seven academic and special education classrooms
• Nine science laboratories
• A library/media center
• An auditorium with seating for 500
• A gymnasium, playing fields and nature trail
