Corpus Christi, TX
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi selected Satterfield & Pontikes Construction as the construction manager for its new College of Business academic facility. Situated along the water, the building site is bordered by the central administration building, campus library and Lee Plaza.
The three-story facility blends in with the campus surroundings through application of similar external brick, yet also serves as a focal point at the campus entrance through the use of a terra cotta sun screen system for window shading. The project included the removal of an existing portable building, partial demolition of a parking lot and rerouting of current utilities at the project site. S&P used Building Information Modeling (BIM) to coordinate with MEP trades for above-ceiling confl ict detection, help with fi eld layout of interior walls and to extract quantities to assist with estimating. The facility houses tiered seating lecture halls, flat-floor classrooms, faculty
office space, several conference rooms and numerous break areas.
