New Orleans, LA
The Foundation for the LSU Health Sciences Center selected Satterfield & Pontikes Construction to build its new office building on Tulane Avenue in New Orleans. The four-story, 22,000 SF building features lobby space and parking on the first level and offices on the upper three floors.
The new building replaces the facility that housed foundation offices that received extensive roof damage by Hurricane Katrina. Levee breaches also caused flooding of the previous building’s
first floor and mold damage throughout.
Project features include:
• Cast-in-place concrete structure
• 85-foot steel pilings
• Insulated aluminum curtain wall assembly
• Concrete roof slab, 2-ply modified bitumen roofing
• Level 4 interior finishes, carpet, ceramic tile
The foundation is a public charity that provides support and
funding for LSU’s Health Sciences Center campus. The project
received money through the Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA) public assistance grant program. FEMA regulations limited the use of fi rst fl oor space. S&P was required to elevate the facility three feet above the fl ood plain.
